Ekiti State Government has raised the alarm over the activities of some fraudsters who are illegally raising fund for the purported burial of the late Deputy Governor, Mrs. Funmilayo Olayinka.

The SSG advised anybody, who was contacted by the illegal fundraisers, to report their activities to security agents.
An Ado Ekiti indigene had through the social media solicited fund, asking each donor to contribute N50,000 to buy souvenirs and other things for the burial of Olayinka.
The statement read in part, “The state government frowns on and does not encourage attempt by any group or individuals to raise funds for the state burial under any guise whatsoever.
“Members of the public are advised to discountenance and report to appropriate security agencies attempts by any individual to obtain money or other items from them for the purpose of the burial.
“We also advise individuals within and outside the state who are involved in this illegal and unauthorised solicitation to desist from it.”
Meanwhile, as the seven-day mourning period declared by the state government over the death of Olayinka ended on Sunday, more eminent Nigerians on Monday continued to pay condolence visits to Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Among the eminent Nigerians that visited Fayemi were the representatives of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad; Senators Oluremi Tinubu, Gbenga Obadara, former Governors of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki; Alhaji Shaaba Lafiaji; wife of Osun State Governor, Alhaja Serifat Aregbesola; and a past President of the Nigeria Guild of Editors, and General Manager, Vanguard newspapers, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye.
The Sultan’s condolence message was delivered through Alhaji Mohammed Tambari, who also delivered a letter to Fayemi on behalf of the Sultanate.
Sa’ad, who described, Olayinka as a hard-working deputy governor, said he also shared in the grief of the government and people of Ekiti over her death.
In her remarks, Tinubu, representing Lagos Central in the Senate, described Olayinka as one of her most respected female politicians, especially for her roles in women empowerment and excellent performance in office.
Saraki, who was accompanied by a former Governor of Kwara State, Alahaji Shaaba Lafiaji, said Olayinka was a “loyal and great ambassador for all of us in the public service,” adding he had known the deceased beyond government relationship.
